The first Smith home, a cabin. Joseph was visited by the Angel Moroni in the upstairs room at the oposite gable as the one pictured. The Sacred Grove is pictured in the background.

The Smith home, originally it was begun by Alvin. The family moved in after his death. The hearth below is inside.

The hearth inside. When Joseph first brought the plates home they hid them under the bricks, wrapped in a cloth, just in the nick of time before a group of men came and turned the house upside down looking for them.

The Cooper Shop where Joseph Smith Sr. made barrels. The second hiding place was in a barrel, filled 1/3rd with beans, he plates were placed inside and then filled to the top with more beans. The path to the left of the picture leads to the grove that you can see in the background.
