Week 3 & 4 of Transfer Period 6 - The Kids Come to Ohio

All of the kids and their families came for 6 days. We celebrated all the holidays we have missed together. We didn't get much sleep because we didn't want to waste the time we had in bed. We also went to see the Cincinnati Reds get trounced by the St. Louis Cards. and we went to the Newport Aquarium in Kentucky. Here are some of our adventures...

Week 2 of Transfer Period 6 for 2008

This transfer has been a fun one. We had a short training and then a big field day for Zone Conference. The top 4 are from Wednesday's zone conference. One is for the way we like them to look, the other is completely lacking in "quiet dignity". They are a bunch of nuts! Notice on the two middle pictures are of Elder Spjute, he is stuck in the kiddie toy. Not to worry because Elders Howton and Young have come to the rescue! The last two pictures are of Tuesday's conference.

My 50th Birthday

We began the day by going out to the Kiem Amish store in Adams County. For my birthday, Greg bought a doll crib that I saw when we went there when Brandon, Lisa and Audrey were here.Next, my friend Janet arranged with Greg for us to go to a Bistro called "Chalk", where her son, Brett is the sous chef. He cooked for us a 5 course meal. Below is a picture of Brett and I.
This desert was a samore desert with graham cracker ice cream with a cookie and chocolate brownie with homemade marshmallows. It was hard to start eating because we didn't want to mess it up, once we started, it wasn't hard to keep going.
The next one is a sugar cookie with custard filling and lemon icecream and a merengue top with a spun sugar twist and lemon curd and raspberry along side. Amazing!
At the end we needed the wheel barrow brigade to come wheel us to the car and dump us in. It was such a memorable experience.
After we went back to the mission home, Elders Young and Voge brought over a gift from the missionaries that Sister Stevenson put together in a scrapbook. Their assignment had been to write something they remember about me. I was up until 12:30am reading them and about laughed myself silly. As well as having some touching moments brought back.
I also had many phone calls throughout the day.
It was a great day and helped make up for not being with our family.
